Make family scripture time productive. Get the kids excited. If kids can see how the Book of Mormon applies to them and if reading the Book is FUN, you might hear, "Is it time to read yet?", rather than, "Do we have to?" We are counseled to SEARCH the scriptures, not just read them. It takes preparation to do that with children. This is the preparation that I've done. Now I have it for reference next time. Memorize: Mosiah 2:17. You may want to start by having everyone commit the keywords to memory so they get the message that King Benjamin is trying to convey first:
in the service of your fellow beings = in the service of God.

We started this as a family last night. I can tell this is going to take some time to memorize. At least a week, but probably more like 2 or 3 - but that's ok. It will be worth it for the kids to have some scriptures memorized. I decided I need to start with the keywords in the verse first so they get the most emphasis.
