Here we see the first half of the vicious circle of the Book of Mormon. The people are righteous -> they are blessed -> they prosper -> many become prideful. We complete the circle in the first few verses of chapter 7.
Draw a diagram of this cycle. The diagram will be a circle containing the points of this vicious circle. Put "humility and righteousness" at the top center of the diagram. Put "blessings and prosperity" halfway down the right side of the diagram. Put "pride" at the bottom center of the diagram. Put "calamity and destruction". Draw a line with an arrow from "humility and righteousness" to "blessings and prosperity". Draw another line with an arrow from "blessings and prosperity" to "pride".
What do you think comes after "pride?" Why? We will read about it and complete the diagrams when we read chapters 7 & 8.
