Have each of the kids bring one thing that represents an activity that is good to do on the Sabbath and one thing that represents an activity that is not good to do on the Sabbath. For example, one of the kids might bring a baseball and the scriptures. Another might bring a pair of videos: The Testaments and Harry Potter. Some families may choose not to watch movies such as Harry Potter on Sunday; others may decide that it is ok. This a good opportunity to discuss these things with the kids so both parents and kids know what is expected.
What day is the Sabbath? What do these verses say we should do on the Sabbath? What do they say we shouldn't do? What are other good things to do on the Sabbath? What are other things we should avoid on the Sabbath?
Why don't we play sports on Sunday? Are sports bad? If not, why do we avoid them on Sunday? Is it ok to take a walk? Why? Why don't we shop on Sunday? Is there some music that we should avoid on Sunday? Why? What are other good activities to do on the Sabbath? Why?
Mosiah 13:16-19 Keep the Sabbath Day Holy
Mosiah 13:21-24 Ten Commandments (5-10)
Finish writing your list of the ten commandments today. Did you get all ten? If not, go back and find any that you missed in verses 12-24 and chapter 12 verses 35-36. One of the commandments is repeated in both chapters.
Why did the Lord say "Thou shalt not kill," rather than "Thou shalt not murder," or "Thou shalt not kill other human beings?" Did He intend this commandment to refer only to killing other people? Or could it include other living things as well?
What does it mean to bear false witness? Why do you think he didn't just say "Thou shalt not lie?" Why is it important to be honest? What happens when you lie? How do other people feel about you when you lie?
What does covet mean? Why is this bad? Can you be happy if you are always wanting what someone else has? Is coveting a sign of pride? What is pride?
Mosiah 13:20 Honor Thy Father and Mother
What does it mean to "honor" your father and mother? Why will that help you live longer? Of all of the commandments the Lord could have given to Israel, why did the Lord consider this commandment important enough to include in the Ten Commandments?
Don't forget to add this to the list of 10 commandments we are making.
Mosiah 13:12-15 Taking the Lord's Name in Vain
Continue to list the 10 commandments on a whiteboard or paper as you read these verses. There are 4 so far. Did you get them all? Does the taking the Lord's name in vain refer only to saying "Oh my God?"
Mosiah 12:33-37 No Other God Before Me
Abinadi expounds the ten commandments over the next few chapters. As you read over the next few days, have your kids pick out the commandments and keep a running list on the whiteboard. See if they can get all 10 of them.
How does each of the ten commandments apply to us? What specific things can we do to keep the 10 commandments?
What are other gods? Certainly this includes gods of other religions and cultures, but can other things such as cars or money or television or recreation become our gods? Name some of the things that people make their gods. How can you avoid putting these other things before the Lord?
Mosiah 17:14-15, 18-20 Death By Fire
Activity: Light a fire or a candle and allow the kids to feel the head of the flame. Don't actually burn them! (the point is not to actually experience what Abinadi experienced, just to get an idea of what he experienced).

Mosiah 17:1-12 Abinadi Sentenced

- Guards (read v5,12)
Mosiah 15:1-4 Why He is The Father and the Son
Is Abinadi talking about the Savior Jesus Christ? How can you tell?
These verses can be a little bit confusing. After reading these verses, have everyone take about 1 minute to write down a quick explanation of why He is the Father and the Son. Then share what you wrote and discuss.

Mosiah 14 Isaiah Speaks Messianically
The words of Isaiah are like poetry. Especially this particular section. Give each person 3-5 minutes to write a short poem about the Savior. If desired, Each person can follow the pattern of Isaiah or borrow a few of his words to help them get started faster.
Have a couple of people share their poem. If no one feels comfortable yet, give everyone another day to work on it on their own time and then share the verses during the next scripture study.

Mosiah 13:1-10 Abinadi in King Noah's Court
Activity: Draw a picture of Abinadi teaching the priests of King Noah (you know that famous Arnold Freeberg painting with Abinadi in chains standing before Noah and his priests?).
Why was Abinadi's face shining? Can you say, like Abinadi, I don't care where I go or what I do from here as long as I am saved?
Mosiah 12:27-33 "We Teach the Law of Moses"
Search: Looking back through the previous few chapters, find the things that King Noah and his priests were doing that violate the Law of Moses. How can they say they teach the law of Moses?
